"Castelfeder" Biotope
Because of its sub Mediterranean vegetation (downy oak, hawthorn, steppe grass), this legendary hot, dry hilltop is also known as "Tyrol's Arcadia". Inhabited already during prehistoric times, the Romans constructed a fortress, the ruins of which are still visible today.

The area around Auer is a biker's paradise for every age group. In the valleys you find small roads and paths, which lead through vineyards and orchards and in the nearby mountains, trained cyclists are quite challenged.
In addition, a traffic-free paved "Etsch River Biking Path" was recently completed in 2000. It leads from Landeck in Austria and over the Reschen mountain pass into the Vinschau valley. From there it goes on to the cities of Meran and Bozen, through the village of Auer and further on to the south through the city of Trent all the way to the city of Verona.

"Katzenleiter"
On a narrow mountain range, you find about 700 steps carved into the stone, which lead up to
a waterfall. Several look out points with wooden benches, provide breathtaking views down onto the valley.


"Bletterbach" Gorge
The walk through this almost spooky canyon is an amazing geological experience- reaching through millions of years- for both geologists and true nature lovers. Three immense rock layers form this colossal, geological amphitheatre. The further you wander up into the gorge, the more extensive the fossilisation.


"Trudner Horn" Naturepark
The nature park found at Trudner Horn is the most species-rich area for flora and fauna in all of South Tyrol.

 

Lake Kaltern
The lake is only 5 minutes from Auer by car. It is the warmest lake of the Alps and is perfect for surfing, swimming and relaxing.

Europe's largest high plateau is indescribably breathtaking and it is a dream come true for every nature lover and hiker in the summer. In the winter, it transforms into an extensive ski resort with modern ski lifts.

At the north end of the lake, there is always a steady wind and that's where you'll find the wave riders busy at their favourite hobbies. Whereas at the southern end, a mild Mediterranean climate prevails.
